A journey of storytelling: PMFI unveils new ebook for media practitioners
During the pandemic, PMFI members gathered online for Zoom meetings that sparked deeper conversations and reflections. These discussions prompted us to ask, "Why don’t we document our own stories about producing stories?" and "How do media practitioners and communicators tell such powerful stories that inspire and contribute to positive social change?"

Building on these reflections, in April and May 2022, we reached out to our members and Trustees. True to form, they were incredibly generous with their time, insights, and personal stories during interviews. This collective effort led to the creation of our ebook, "Conversations on Communication for Positive Social Change."
After four years, we launched the ebook through a Zoom kwentuhan event on March 24, 2025. Panelists included Broadcast Journalist Cheche Lazaro, Screenwriter and Filmmaker Doy Del Mundo, Science Communicator Ruby Cristobal, Brand Storyteller Vicky Ortega, and Multimedia Journalist/Author Atom Araullo. Artist Robert Alejandro (+) was also featured. PMFI President Data T. Canlas expertly facilitated the conversations. The launch participants were also very active, making the discussions even more engaging.
At its heart, this publication is about telling stories that matter. Through a series of candid interviews and "kwentuhans" with PMFI members, who are practitioners across journalism, film, advertising, education, and the arts, they share how stories are shaped, the realities storytellers navigate today, and how communication, at its best, can serve as a force for good.
We are happy to share the full video recording of the launch. The ebook is free and can be accessed through: https://www.probefound.com/resources/convos-comms4change
