Children's Media - truthful kiddie journalism

Media Training and production is not just for grown-ups. Kids are much a part of media as adults. An in order to make a positive change in the media industry, children should be given the skills as well as the venue to air their views, opinions and ideas through different types of media.

Through the Truthful Kiddie Journalism Program, we hope to create a new breed of responsible media practitioners. These are their activities:

Kabataan News Network (KNN)
Kabataan News Network or KNN is the only television show in the country controlled by young adults. All the stories in KNN are shot and written by teenagers. In 30-minutes you find out the real issues that young adults face, from north to south of the country.

Print Journalism program and Newsletter Publication
In cooperation with UNICEF, children and youth from all over the Philippines are trained to develop their writing and print journalism skills. Their works are published in a quarterly newsletter.

Photojournalism Program
Also in cooperation with UNICEF, children and youth are trained to develop their photography, photojournalism and photo-documentation skills. Their skills are further enhanced by cooperating with the print journalism group and acting as the newsletter's official photographers.

Broadcast Journalism Program
Youth from all over the Philippines are trained in video production. The goal of this workshop is to mold future socially responsible and ethical broadcast journalists.
